Canton Fair 2009 Invitation Policies and Procedures Present New Challenges

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

International visitors to the 2009 Canton Fair may face some new obstacles in preparing for their trip. New visa requirements are in place in China since the 2008 Olympic Games. Visitors are required to apply for their visas in advance and must have a business-related invitation letter along with their Chinese hotel booking and return flight information. Gathering all of these items can be a challenge, but Wentrip.com, a distinguished travel company based in Guangzhou, is uniquely prepared to help visitors attending the Canton Fair.

The China Import and Export Fair, commonly known as Canton Fair, is China’s oldest and largest comprehensive trade fair. Held twice each year, the fair includes a large variety of exhibits and draws businesspeople from more than 200 countries. During the Fair, travel to Guangzhou is at its peak and travel agencies are busy handling the influx of visitors and requests.

Wentrip.com is one of only a few agencies who have a professional Canton Fair Division dedicated to serve visitors to the Fair. During the Fair, all of the travel agencies in Guangzhou are at their busiest and most of companies must hire short-term workers or students to handle the load. But Wentrip’s Canton Fair Division is made up of only highly-efficient and experienced full-time workers. These professional service personnel have mastered the various fair-related issues.

Beyond making the usual travel arrangements, visitors to the Fair must apply for a Chinese visa which requires obtaining a letter of invitation. “A new policy for the 2009 Spring Fair requires the visitor’s name and nationality to be on the invitation,” says Ken Lin, manager for the Canton Fair Division of Wentrip.com. In the past, the invitation was sent directly to the company without an attendee’s name on it. “Visitors are now required to provide their passport number and nationality when applying for the invitation.”

Application for the invitation can be made in two ways: by E-invitation over the internet, or by written request. Many visitors have found it difficult to apply for the E-invitation due to server downtime, slow connections and errors. To make this application easier for visitors, Wentrip.com provides a free E-invitation application service to guests upon making a hotel reservation. “We can apply for the E-invitation for our customers,” says Ken Lin. “Only a few travel companies provide this level of service.”

Credit card fraud is another concern for guests traveling to China, and many are reluctant to send copies of their credit cards to travel agencies in China. Wentrip.com allows guests’ credit card payments to be processed in the United States, utilizing advanced technology to protect their customers. The customer is protected by U.S. laws, providing a more secure way for travelers to pay for their needs.

The Canton Fair is an event that businesspeople do not want to miss. Wentrip.com is poised to help them overcome the obstacles to international travel so travelers can focus on business. Their professional service agents are thoroughly familiar with Guangzhou, its hotels and streets and the manner in which business is to be conducted. Their knowledge of the Canton Fair and their extra services are sure to make traveling to the Fair easier, safer, and more enjoyable for their clients.

New Choice for Canton Fair Hotels

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Known to the west as Canton till 1949, Guangzhou is emerging as a world-leading trading destination. This city also plays host to the Canton Fair since 1957. Renamed the China Import and Export Fair in 2007, this trade fair is the largest in China with over 15,000 exhibitors. Not only is the Canton Fair witness to the largest attendance but the highest number of deals are struck at this venue.

Venue

What a lot of Canton Fair attendees might be unaware of is that the venue for the trade fair, which had been hosted for the past 35 years in the YueXiu District of Guangzhou, has been shifted to the Pazhou Exhibition Center in October 2008. This means that when one is looking for accommodation in Guangzhou, one needs to look at Guangzhou Hotels that are close to the trade fair venue.

Accommodation

The good news is that with the Asia Games due to be hosted in Guangzhou in 2010, this region has seen huge improvement in hotel accommodation with numerous new Gaungzhou hotels coming up over the past few years. Almost 30 hotels have opened in Guangzhou every year since 2005 and most of these hotels are in the Tianhe and Pazhou districts.

Choosing a Good Guangzhou Hotel

With the city centre shifting gradually to the Tianhe and Pazhou districts from the old city centre of YueXiu District, choosing hotels needs some thought. Most people traveling to Guangzhou might be more familiar with the older hotels that have been there for a long time and have proven their excellence. The fact, however, is that newer hotels have much more to offer in terms of facilities and comfort.

According to Ken Lin, Manager of Canton Fair Division, Wentrip.com Guangzhou Office, with newer hotels offering better pay packages, they have been able to bag the best talent in the hospitality industry. The staff of a hotel always plays a crucial role in how memorable one’s stay is. With state-of-the-art amenities, the newer hotels win hands down over the older, albeit more established, hotels in Guangzhou.

Possibly the most important aspect to look at is the pricing. Newer hotels offer rates that are 20-30% lower than the older hotels. New hotels, in their attempt to attract more customers, offer various discount packages that work out significantly more economical than staying at the older Guangzhou hotels.

The last aspect to consider is travel time. Staying close to the venue definitely makes more sense in a city like Guangzhou, known for its traffic snarls. Choosing a hotel in YueXiu District will mean 1.5 to 3 hours of travel by taxi or shuttle to and from the Canton Fair. On the other hand, by choosing accommodation in TianHe District one can cut travel time down to 15 to 60 minutes. Staying at a hotel in Pazhou means a short travel of 15 minutes by taxi or shuttle to and from the Canton Fair.

Although all the above factors do narrow down one’s choice, there still are numerous hotel options to choose from. Those traveling for the first time to Guangzhou or those who are unfamiliar with the region, might need some guidance about accommodation and travel in the city. The Wentrip.com Professional Canton Fair Division specializes in offering free guide and hotel recommendations that can help travelers choose a hotel that meets their budgetary needs and preferences and make their stay in Guangzhou a memorable one.
