The first daytime cruises along the Pearl River towards the east of Guangzhou in Huangpu District were launched December 30, 2009. People can board a vessel at Dashatou wharf, and sail down the river past Huangpu Military Academy towards the starting point of marine Silk Road at the Sea Goddess Temple.
During the upcoming New Year three-day holiday, this new day cruise down the Pearl River will cost you 50RMB and more if you wish to eat on board. Boats leave from Dashatou at 9am and return around 4pm.
If you are looking for an outing over the weekend, then going on Saturday is a good choice as a traditional worshipping ceremony is held for the sea goddess every Saturday morning in front of the Temple. In ancient times, the locals from Huangpu would hold this ceremony before heading out to sea.
