The Guangdong Tourism Administration has organized a Tourism Promotion and International Travel Exposition, to take place on November 24 in the south plaza of Guangzhou Tianhe Sports Center. The expo is an important part of the Guangdong International Travel and Culture Festival, which will be held from November 23 to 29.
With two successful editions behind it, this year's expo is likely to be even more brilliant.
It will feature 524 display booths, 32 of foreign exhibitors and 90 of domestic exhibitors, as wel1 as 46 with special themes. Guangdong exhibitors will occupy 256 booths.
Thanks to the combined efforts of the nine provinces and two special administrative regions of the Pan Pearl River Delta (PPRD), this year's exposition has drawn a large number of exhibitors, with all booths booked a month in advance.
Compared with the previous two editions, the 2007 exposition will have a larger exhibition hall and greater diversity of exhibitors.
The exhibitors comprise foreign and domestic governmental tourism organizations, private tourism companies and large-scale airline companies.
The overseas exhibitors include Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, Korea National Tourism Organization, Japan Osaka Convention and Tourism Bureau, Japan Kyushu Tourism Promotion Organization, Hong Kong Office of Japan Hyogo Government, Nevada Commission on Tourism, the USA-based Northwest Airline, Hawaii Tourism Authority, Egyptian Tourist Authority, Philippines Department of Tourism and a tourism delegation from Bangladesh.
There will also be some domestic exhibitors from the PPRD provinces and regions, including Fujian, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangdong, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hainan, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.
Some other provinces have also expressed enthusiasm regarding the event. Tourism administrations and tour agencies of Shaanxi, Shanxi, and Zhejiang provinces and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region will participate in the event.
Guangdong Province's information industry department, China Telecom and China Netcom have extended great support to the expo.
An exhibition depicting the development of the PPRD will be one of the main draws of the event. Some other shows with special themes, such as forest zoology tourism, relieving poverty through tourism, Guangdong hot spring industry and Guangdong tourism development, will also be important aspects of the expo.
The exposition is not only a stage for showcasing Guangdong's tourism, but also a bridge to reinforce international communication on tourism and its development.
A number of performances by domestic and overseas participants will be staged during the expo at the same venue. Professional performers from Russia, Japan, Malaysia, and Vietnam will present songs and dances reflecting their unique national cultures for the people of Guangzhou.
Regional and international cooperation are the most important ideas behind the exposition.
Boasting unique location and rich tourism resources, the PPRD has become a shining example of success for China's tourism industry.
The Tourism Promotion and International Travel Exposition will greatly promote the image of tourism in Guangdong and the PPRD, the Guangdong Tourism Administration said. (By Liang Qiwen)
